Leather is more than just a material—it's a story that evolves with time. At Mimas Design, we handcraft each product with genuine leather using traditional techniques to ensure they last a lifetime. Whether you’ve just purchased one of our leather bags, wallets, bow ties, or home accessories, proper care will keep your item beautiful and functional for years to come.

Everyday Use: Let Leather Live
Leather is naturally durable and flexible, designed to be used. Here’s how to make the most of it:
Rotate your items: If you own multiple leather accessories like wallets or bags, give them a break from daily use to avoid excess wear.
Let it breathe: Avoid storing your leather products in plastic bags or airtight containers. Leather needs airflow to stay fresh and supple.
Be mindful of moisture: Leather is not water-resistant, so avoid exposing your products to rain, spills, or damp environments. If your item does get wet, gently pat it dry with a clean cloth—never rub—and allow it to air dry at room temperature. Avoid using heat sources like hair dryers, as they can cause the leather to crack or warp.
How to Keep Leather Looking Its Best
Natural leather will age and patinate beautifully, but a little care goes a long way:
1. Clean Regularly
Use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe away dust and surface dirt.
2. Condition the Leather
Leather can dry out over time. Use a natural leather conditioner or balm every few months to nourish and protect it. Always test any product on a small, hidden area first.
3. Avoid Direct Sunlight and Heat
Prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause leather to fade or crack. Store your items away from heaters and radiators, and keep them in a cool, dry place.
4. Store with Care
When not in use, keep structured items like bags in their dust bags or fill them with soft paper to help them maintain their shape. For wallets or smaller items, use breathable fabric pouches.
A Few Extra Tips from Our Workshop Leather Care
Don’t overstuff wallets or bags—it can distort their shape over time.
Handle with clean hands to prevent oils and dirt from transferring.
Let scratches become part of the story—minor marks often fade and blend into the leather's natural patina.
Leather grows more beautiful with age—but only when treated with care. We hope these tips help you enjoy your Mimas Design piece for many years to come.
